i went to a civil surgeon today to fulfill the medication examination requirement for my green card application. i was lucky that i had found records of my immunizations because otherwise, i would have had to get something like 10 needles (mumps, measles, rubella, polio, etc) :O. instead, i only had to get a tetanus shot, and a TB skin test. as well, the doctor drew some blood to run some other blood tests. so after my appointment i had three cottonball bandages on my left arm. on my way back to work, i decided i would reward myself with a mocha frappuccino from starbucks. it's super hot today (30-something deg Celsius is really hot on the west coast) so a frap really hits the spot! i went into starbucks not really thinking and when i went up to the counter, i saw the cashier eye my arm. oops.
he asks "oh oh. what happened to you?"
i reply " oh i just came from the doctors - i got some immunizations " which is honest and completely true. something about my tone of voice seemed to indicate that i had just made that up. so then i see him give me a "i don't believe that" look and then proceed to take my order. when he took my order, he said "that'll give you some sugar" i'm guessing he must've thought that i had just drugged up - maybe was wondering if i was going to fall over as a result of an OD (three needles!). oh well, next time i will have to be more conscious of what i look like when entering public places :)
yes, i did say i'm getting my green card.
no, it doesn't not mean i am here permanently. i'm just keeping my options open.
;) any other questions, email me.

you drug addict! OK seriously, I guess this is like how marginalized people are treated in society. People make immediate judgments about you.
