The subway is quite modern - at least some of the subway lines are. They have the automatic door and wall barriers like they have in Hong Kong. The trains are jammed packed with people. Mostly, the trains are air-conditioned. I find it exciting to travel around a city like locals do but i think Hmma thought I was being kinda silly.
Often after a city hosts the Olympics, the buildings and the area that once bustled with atheletes and people from all around the world becomes a bit of a ghost town. I was surprised to see that there are still quite a few people taking photos of these buildings.
Then i remember that there are over a billion people in China and even if all Chinese people want to visit these buildings at least once, well, maybe it could be a while before this place becomes a ghost town. And that's not counting the foreigners. Even though this photo doesn't show it, there were something like 5 groups of people all trying to get photos of this sign with the Bird's Nest in the background at the time this was shot.
After visiting the Olympic buildings, we headed back to the hotel to get dinner. We ate in the mall under the hotel. We settled on a dumplings and noodles restaurant - yummy in my tummy (minus the discomfort of the fish bone that was still stuck in my throat after lunch with my chinese coworkers).
