Isaiah 42:16-17
I will lead the blind by ways they have not known,
along unfamiliar paths I will guide them;
I will turn the darkness into light before them
and make the rough places smooth.
These are the things I will do;
I will not forsake them.
But those who trust in idols,
who say to images, ‘You are our gods,’
will be turned back in utter shame.
God promises me that he will lead and guide me along unknown and unfamiliar paths. What is covered in darkness, perhaps uncertainty, anxiety, instability, he will shine with light, comfort, stability, reassurance. The rough places will be smooth. He will not forsake me.
Idols lie to me trying to convince me that trusting in those idols is where I will find comfort and stability but in the end, after the time of uncertainty passes, i know that idols will only fail me and let me down.
