it was brought to my attention (from a girl in my girls group) that today is pi day - occuring on 3/14 at 1:59pm. pi = 3.14159265358979... yes there are some pretty geeky people out there. to make it worse, pi day was invented by the university of waterloo. i think perhaps the funniest thing about this "holiday" is that some enthusiasts will celebrate by eating pie. and sometimes the pie is square. why? cus the equation for the surface area of a circle ( for those who don't remember their elementary mathematics - pi*r^2 ) is pronounced "pie are squared".
oh. boy.
happy pi day people.

Speaking of Pi*R^2, next time you head north to Vancouver, stop by the Student Union Building at UBC for a slice of deep-dish potatoe pizza at a place called Pi-R-Squared. I ate there so often during undergrad and still have fond memories of the experience.
wow, that IS geeky... :p are you sure YOU didn't come up with it while you were at Waterloo?
