messin' up...

grrr. messin' up sucks. snowboardin has been on my mind lately so i've been reminded of this one time i went snowboarding at whistler. the trail was at the top of whistler mountain. it was nice and flat (an easy green run) and it should have been smooth sailing. i turned the corner and as i did so, the clouds parted and the view was suddenly clear - a vast display of God's amazing creation - for as far as i could see, there were mountains everywhere dotted with trees, covered in white snow. it was completely beautiful and awesome. distracted for that moment, i forgot i was on a snowboard. i caught the front of my board and took a nasty wipeout in the middle of the trail. to make it worse, i was in front of everyone. so a bunch of people come up from around me and ask "what happened??" what could possibly have happened...?

distractions happen all the time in life. do we give those opportunities to satan to use against God's purpose for our lives? lately, i've been struggling with this whole moving to seattle business but i was beginning to think that life was finally leveling out and returning back to smooth sailing. i had started to think that maybe things were under control again. until one day something comes up, catches me in a distrated state and it knocks me on my back. i've been so distracted by the ease of how life was going that i forgot for a moment that i'm still unsteady and perhaps a little unstable. that i'm not fully relying on God yet, that i haven't fully learned what it means to trust in Him. i've also forgotten that i'm a witness to others around me and that there are people watching me as i'm travelling down this path. i am human and i will mess up but will i allow the distractions in my life be used by satan to keep me from God's purpose for my life? i pray not! i've messed up twice now... three's a charm right? i trust that the next time this comes around, i can handle it better by first giving it up to God so that it doesn't distract me from what God wants me to do with my life.
