Home Sweet Home

i took a weekend trip to beautiful british columbia this weekend. friday night, we squished 5 people and all our luggage into a subaru impreza and drove up to richmond, bc where we stayed the night at bonny's place. we got a quick dose of bbtea and then went to sleep. we got about 5 hours of sleep before having to wake up again to make the drive to whistler for snowboarding. the day started off chilly, a little cold but no breeze. the sky was clear and blue - a beautiful crisp day for boardin. snowboarding down blackcomb was great!! i've only gone on a few runs on blackcomb - 7th heaven, and the jersey cream runs - but saturday, i explored more of the terrain and really got to understand why blackcomb is the preferred mountain for snowboarders (vs. whistler mountain). i think i've become more comfortable with the steepness of the blues. my carving is more controlled, my balance better, and i'm no longer afraid of a bit of speed - i welcome the wind on my face! i think i'm ready to master the moguls and the black runs - bring it on! :D after a full day of snowboarding, we met up at whistler village where i bumped into other seattle-people and then also a bunch of classmates! couldn't meet up with mas - will have to catch up with him another time when he's not getting wasted :P. we headed back to vancouver for a meal at swiss chalet. then stacey and i introduced the others to dragon balls - so far, the best place i know to get a fresh fruit bbtea (milk or no milk) slushie (or no slushie). sunday was spent piggin out. we woke up on time (sort of) for church, ate a full lunch of dimsum (oh so good), and then another round of dragon balls (seriously, a must in vancouver). we also stopped by the bakery to pick up chinese pasteries (curry beef, bbq pork, coconut buns.. drool). to work off our lunch and prepare for our dinner (all you can eat sushi..omg we're already so full), we took a stroll along a park.. which i can't remember the name of.. after dinner, we loaded the car and headed back to seattle.

whenever i'm in vancouver, i always feel like i'm closer to home. it's not the same as toronto but it's in canada so it's a bit better. weekend away was excellent for me. i needed the change and the good food, and the familiarity and the good company. apparently, i've seen more and know more about vancouver than a local vancouverite!! :) haha.

back in seattle now, time for some shut eye. Zzz...
